What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing is a form of alternative therapy developed by Trauma Therapist Dr. Peter A Levine. It is aimed at relieving the symptoms related to health problems caused by mental and physical trauma.

This is done by focusing on the client’s perceived body sensations. Using the mindfulness part of your brain you become the observer of all sensations that your body is experiencing. All emotions are experienced in your body through physical sensations which are sent to your body from your brain. Somatic Experiencing lets the energy that is trapped inside your body and subconscious mind to be released and flow through. Somatic therapy is used to help people with chronic anxiety, depression, addiction, relationships, and chronic pain. The theory behind somatic tracking is that mind, body, spirit, and emotions are all connected.
