What is TMS?

TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome) is a condition that causes real physical symptoms such as: many forms of Chronic Pain, Gastrointestinal Issues, Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia, that are not due to pathological or structural abnormalities and are not explained by diagnostic tests. TMS is also known as MBS (Mind Body Syndrome).

MBS is created and exacerbated by processes in the Brain and Nervous System. Unprocessed emotions, unhealthy thought patterns, everyday stresses, lifestyle factors, childhood stress and/or trauma all contribute to TMS. It’s also known as: TMS (Tension Myoneural Syndrome), PPD (Psychophysiological disorder), Somatic Symptom Disorder, Neural Pathway Pain or Central Sensitization Syndrome.

The term TMS was originally coined by Dr. John Sarno. Dr Sarno was a physician and professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at N.Y.U. for more than 30 years. He was frustrated by the lack of results with pain therapy. He revisited the science, conducted multiple trials, and discovered that most chronic pains and diseases are actually caused by Tension (Stress) and not an underlying physical issue. The good news is you can recover and live a life pain free and I am here to lead you on the most incredible journey of your life.

TMS Recovery coaching

Despite what you may have been told, you CAN recover from chronic pain and symptoms!

TMS Recovery coaching is based on the ever-evolving path that Dr. John Sarno and his predecessors have forged with the discovery of a condition that Sarno called TMS, or The Mindbody Syndrome. During coaching sessions, I draw on my unique training and experience as a recovered chronic pain patient. Using my personal experience with chronic pain and my somatic and teaching background, I will teach you a step by step process in healing.

Recovery Coaching addresses every aspect of TMS recovery, including:

  • Understanding what TMS is, how it applies to each individual, and learning about the research that supports it

  • Support and guidance for those who feel completely overwhelmed and don’t know where to start

  • Help for those whose symptoms are so extreme, they don’t feel equipped to begin recovery on their own

  • Encouraging the rational brain to accept that symptoms are not “physical” in nature

  • Resources, tools and practices that apply to each individual’s unique situation

  • Investigating and identifying the root causes of the creation and continuation of symptoms in order to extinguish them

  • Reintroducing movement/exercise and getting back to normal life activities

  • Handling relapse and relapse prevention

  • Releasing stored stress and trauma from the nervous system that leads to TMS symptoms

Recovery coaching sessions take place via online video chat platform (Zoom).
